Common Questions

How often will we meet?

The frequency of sessions is flexible and will depend on your needs and your current life situation. Many people find it helpful to begin with a regular rhythm of once or twice a week. At the same time, longer intervals are also possible, such as every two or three weeks, once a month, or at individually agreed intervals.

A single consultation can also be meaningful, for example to clarify a specific situation or to gain orientation. The most important thing is that we find together a framework that feels supportive and manageable for you.

How long does psychotherapy last?

This is a very common and understandable question at the beginning. At the same time, there is no general answer, because each person, life story, and concern is unique. The length of therapy depends on the issues you bring, what you would like to change or understand more deeply, and how intensively you wish to engage in the process.

Some people seek support during a specific life phase or around a concrete issue, while others prefer longer-term therapeutic work. Both are valuable and meaningful. We will regularly reflect on the process together and adjust it when needed. You decide how long you would like to continue. My role is to accompany you with care, respect, and professional guidance.

How long is a session?

A standard session lasts 50 minutes. In certain situations, longer sessions can also be arranged if needed.

Can I be reimbursed by my health insurance?

Psychotherapy provided under the German Heilpraktiker law is usually a private service and is not covered by public health insurance. If you have private insurance or supplementary coverage, reimbursement may be possible. In this case, I recommend contacting your insurance provider in advance to clarify the conditions.

When can I cancel or reschedule a session?

You can cancel or reschedule a session free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. This allows the time to be offered to another client. If a session is cancelled later than 24 hours in advance the full fee will be charged

If you become ill on the same day, the session can also be cancelled without charge, provided that a medical certificate (sick note) is presented.

It is important to me to maintain a reliable and respectful therapeutic framework. At the same time, I understand that unexpected situations can occur. If you are unsure or special circumstances arise, please feel free to contact me.

What is psychodynamic psychoanalytic psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic psychoanalytic psychotherapy is based on the understanding that many of our feelings, thoughts, and relational patterns are shaped by unconscious inner processes. Early relationship experiences often continue to influence our present life, even when we are not aware of their impact. In therapy, the aim is to explore and understand these inner connections together and to create the possibility for new emotional and relational experiences.

The therapeutic relationship is central to this approach. It offers a safe and reliable space in which difficult feelings, inner conflicts, and painful experiences can be held, understood, and gradually processed.

An important aspect of this work is thinking together about emotions and experiences. The goal is not only to reduce symptoms, but also to develop a deeper understanding of oneself, greater inner freedom, and the ability to engage in relationships in a more conscious and vital way. Therapy is understood as a collaborative process, individually tailored to your needs and your pace.

What is Trauma in a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspective?

From a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspective, trauma is understood not only as a difficult or overwhelming event, but as an experience that cannot be fully processed at the time it occurs. Such experiences may remain “unintegrated” and continue to influence emotions, relationships, and the sense of self, often outside of conscious awareness.

In this approach, trauma is explored within a safe and reliable therapeutic relationship. The aim is to create a space where overwhelming feelings can gradually be held, thought about, and transformed. Through this process, painful experiences can become more integrated, emotional regulation can improve, and a renewed sense of inner stability and connection can develop.
